How much is the fine?
If caught, you expect to pay a $150.00 fine, but it can be as high as $500.00

Does it go on my driving record and affect my insurance?
Yes

Do you get points taken off?
In short, No. But if warranted the police officer could lay a charge of careless or dangerous driving. A conviction of careless or dangerous driving results in 6 demerit points and a fine of up to $1,000.
